Biography

Although Joseph is listed on the removal certificate of his parents, Solomon & Margaret (Blackburn) Shepherd, from Menallen MM dated 1783 he was born in Westmoreland in 1777. The certificate was issued some years after the family had relocated and simply listed all of the Solomon children living when the certificate was issued. He was disowned 6m 23 1792 by Westland MM for disunited. He was reinstated 6 m 25 1817 at Redstone MM on consent of Westland. Joseph relocated with his wife Elizabeth and children around 1817 and their certificate was transferred to Providence Meeting. [2]
