Biography

Robert Sheppard son of agricultural labourer James Shepherd and his wife, Betsy was born at Weaverthorpe in the East Riding of Yorkshire in about 1840. ^[1] By 1861 he had moved to Leeds where he was living at 11 Fleet St with his elder brother, William and William's family. ^[2] Fleet Street, Leeds

On 18 March 1866 at the church of All Saints, Otley he married Mary Dennis. ^[3] They set up home in Otley/ ^[4]
