Biography

Roy was born in 1914. He was the son of LeRoy Shepherd and Grace Sheets. He passed away in 1992, and was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee.[1]

Obituary

ROY A. SHEPHERD, 78, of Memphis, retired self-employed wholesale produce dealer, died Monday at Kirby Pines Manor. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memorial Park. He attended Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College) and University of Pennsylvania, was a charter member of Memphis Chapter of Sigma Nu, a World War II Army veteran who received the Purple Heart, a member of Gideons for more than 40 years and First Evangelical Church, where he served as elder and deacon. Mr. Shepherd, the husband of Martha Jane Shepherd, also leaves a daughter, Pamela Jane Waldron of Cranbury, N.J.; a brother, Lt. Col. Thomas J. Shepherd (USAF, ret.) of Collierville, and two grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Gideons or a charity of the donor's choice.[2]
