Biography

Elizabeth Shepherd was born about 1778 in North Carolina.

She married James Walter Baker, abt 1798.

Elizabeth in the late 1820s was living with her son, Henry Baker. It looks like after or shortly before Henry's marriage, Elizabeth (Shepherd) Baker Milburn is found living in the household of her daughter, Leah (Baker) Short and husband, Daniel Henry Short in Pound, Wise Co., VA.

In 1856 Elizabeth (Shepherd) Baker (evidently dropped the Milburn) was on the 'Overseer of Poor List', and was living in the house of Leah & Daniel Short, and they received money for her keep. [Reference source requested for this entry]

Shepherd-6708 and Shepherd-3410 appear to represent the same person because: Both represent the spouse of James Baker. Same actuarial dates & geography.
