Margaret de Sherburne, the daughter and co-heiress of Sir Richard de Sherburne and Alice Plumpton[1][2][3] Her date and place of birth are unknown and are estimated. With her sister Joan, she inherited the estates of their father, Sir Richard Sherburne.[4]
Margaret married before 1377 to Richard de Bayley of Stonyhurst, Lancashire, son and heir of John de Bailey.[1][4] Whitaker's History of Whalley gives a marriage date of about 1377.[5] They had one son:
Richard Sherburne, Esq.,[4] born at Stonyhurst, Lancashire on 12 October 1381, adopting his mother's surname; died 29 May 1441; married Agnes Harington and had nine children.[1][3]
Richard de Bayley died at Stonyhurst, Lancashire, before 1388/9.[1] She married secondly to William de Dransfield on 4 August 1391.[3]
Margaret's date and place of death are unknown.

Married Richard de Bayley of Stonyhurst in 1377. Their son Richard changed his name from de Bayley to Richard Sherburne, his mother's maiden name as at that time the Sherburnes were very rich & powerful. So he became the First Richard of Stonyhurst. But for that change we would be known as Bayleys.
