Sherman (1920), the genealogist, states that the earliest documentary mention of John is the 1492 will of John's father Thomas Sherman of Diss, Norfolk and Yaxley, Suffolk. The family members explicitly mentioned in that will are Thomas' wife Agnes, his son John, and unnamed and unnumbered daughters of John. Agnes, wife of John Clerk, is mentioned but not explicitly named as his daughter. [1]
John Sherman's wife was Agnes Fuller, daughter of Thomas Fuller. She also married Robert Hendry, after the death of John Sherman. [2]
John Sherman died in 1504 -- his will was dated 10 August and it was proved on 12 December. He mentioned his wife Agnes, and two children - Thomas and Margery, both under the age of sixteen. He also gives the name of his father-in-law as Thomas Fullen (sic).[2]
Some of the imports that created this profile had John's mother as Agnes Fuller. His wife is known to have been Agnes Fuller, it is unlikely that his mother had the same/similar name. During the merge of Sherman-816 into Sherman-221 the UNKNOWN mother was retained; the other imported mother (Fulmer-134) has been merged into Fuller-367.
