@NI2596@ NOTEAccording to Descendants of William Sherman;

"William Sherman was a mariner in his youth. About 1771 he left

Rochester apparently not returning until 1777. He is called Jr. in his

marriage record,3rd in many deeds, and afetr the death of , William,

his father , he is called 2nd. In 1771 there were at least 4 William

Shermans in Rochester. He returned in 1777, becoming a farmer and

spending the rest of his life in Rochester."

"William Sherman appears in the census of 1790 with two males above 16(

he and Zephaniah) four below (Thomas , Daniel, William, and Elkanah),

and three females (wife Hannah,Eleanor and Sarah). Prudence was

evidently married. In 1800 his family consisted of himself and wife

over 45, a son Daniel and daughter Sarah, between 16-26, and

sons(William and Elkanah) between 10-16. In 1810 , he and his wife

were living with a son between 26-45 (Thomas,whose wife and children

were diseased),in 1820, he and his wife were living alone in

Rochester, neither appear in the next census."
