Vickey - I am also descended thru Thomas Sweet, b. 1732 and Frances Congdon and have been trying for years without success to document his parents as James Sweet and Mary Sherman
The Thomas Sweet who married Tabitha Bently was born in 1703. Thomas and Tabitha did have a child born Oct 8, 1742 (not 1732) that may have been named Thomas but James N. Arnold's "Vital Records of Rhode Island - 1636 - 1850" indicates the name of the child was illegible on official records.
Both Thomas, who married Tabitha, and James, who married Mary Sherman, were sons of Benoni Sweet and Elizabeth Manchester. Those births are documented in Arnold's as well.
I would like to compare notes/information on the children of Thomas and Frances. I am descended thru Samuel Thomas Sweet, b. Jan 8, 1765. My direct e-mail is cnjsweet@comcast.net
