Reuben Jr in 1850 Summerhill, NY, US Census

((This lists 7 children, 1865 NYS Census says she had 8 children... so there could be another daughter not seen as a Sherman in 1850, 1855 listings... Ann Sherman married David Kellogg c. 1845, so I am going to tentatively make that connection, of course it would change if it was proved wrong in the future... another possible reason for thinking Ann was a daughter of this Reuben is that she could be named after his wife, and she has a son named Dwight, a same name as one of Reuben's sons. - Loren Fay))

((In the 1855 NYS Census, the census is blank for the childrens' birthplaces, but it seems to be implied that blanks were Cayuga County, since all other answers are written in, i.e. Mass. and Otsego, and other places for other people... the clerk saved time by not writing in the obvious Cayuga County answers. This is checked out by the number of years they have lived in the town, same number as their age. The father said he was there 38 years, coming there about 1817, and they were first listed in the Locke 1820 census. Summerhill was organized from Locke in 1831. In 1850 Reuben Jr. had 25 acres of land worth about $600, seen in Nonpopulaton Census listings. He was a farmer and a cooper. - Loren Fay. ))
