According to Shinn, Josiah Hazen, A. M. (1849-1917), The History of The Shinn Family in Europe and America, The Genealogical and Historical Publishing Company, 1903, pg 103, a Benjamin Shinn with the same date of birth died on 11 Jan 1819, leaving no descendants.
