In 1823 he moved to Tyler County, VA; in 1829 upon a flat boat, which he constructed at the mouth of Middle Island Creek in Virginia, he was transferred to Cincinnati. Selling his boat there he took passage on a canal boat to Hamilton, Ohio, and from thence was transferred by team to Henry County, Indiana. His wife died in 1833; he then removed to Fayette, then Blackford County, Indiana; thence to the home of his son Elias at Dubuque, Iowa; he died at Uniontown, Illinois, 1851, at the house of his nephew, Hiram.
