Biography

The brothers Conrad, Eli, Richard and Thomas Shipley all signed the "Petition by the Inhabitants of the State of Franklin to the State of North Carolina". The petitioners sought to be released from all obligations to the State of North Carolina which was still claiming the territory. Less than 2 years thereafter, they became residents of the "Territory South of Ohio".
