Research Notes

I do not know for certain at this time that Samuel of Newburgh NY, was Scott's brother or if he is related. Samuel was my Great Grandfather and I do not have information at this time that I am related to Scott. This book was among the possessions of my Great Grand Father. 'Personal Memoir of the Life and Services of Scott Shipp, by Jennings C. Wise and dated 1915' "A gift to Samuel E. Shipp compliments of Jenning C. Wise. " Presented to you with the compliments of the Author and of the Group of Friends and Admirers of General Shipp who have had this Memoir published" GD Letcher, Chairman , Lexington. VA I have this book in my possession. [1]Children and their marriages listed Page 44

"Shortly after the death of Mrs Tucker, (1901) in a fire, Mr. and Mrs. Hunger removed from South Carolina to Lexington and from that time have dwelt with General Shipp, brightening his home with their presence and their three Grand children .. the oldest a son..... . bearing the name of his distinguished grand father"[2]
