"Cecily Shirley, 6th and youngest daughter of Thomas Shirley, Knight, of Wiston, Sussex, England, by Anne, daughter of Thomas Kempe, Knight, married Thomas West, Knight, 3rd Lord La Warr, at St.-Dustan-in-the-West, London, England, on 25 Nov. 1602.[1] Another source notes the marriage year was 1596. [2] They had one son, Henry, Knight [4th Lord La Warr], and six daughters, Jane, Elizabeth, Anne, Cecily (wife of Francis Bindloss, Knight, and John Byron, Knight, 1st Lord Byron of Rochdale), Lucy, (wife of Robert Byron, Knight), and Catherine." [3] "Their descendants remained in England." [4]
June 22? 18. Petition of Cecily Lady De la Warr to the King. Sets forth that her husband undertook a voyage to Virginia to settle a plantation and died there; that the great profits and advantages accruing from thence are due to the large sums of money expended by him out of her jointure, and that she was left burdened with many debts and only 10l. per annum to maintain herself and seven children. King James granted her a pension of 500l. per annum, for 31 years, to be paid out of the customs of the plantation, but the grant being more than half expired, and the petitioner destitute of any means to make provision for five daughters, prays for a renewal of the pension of 500l. per annum for 31 years from the present time.
Cecily was buried at Wherwell, Hampshire, England 31 July 1662. [5]
Cecilia was born in 1581. She passed away in 1662.
Research Notes
Date of Marriage
Cokayne's Complete Peerage gives the date of her marriage to Thomas West as 25 November 1602; Douglas Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry as 25 November 1596.
Questionable Daughter
A daughter Alice, wife of Thomas Lake Harris, has previously been attached to Thomas. There appears to be no sourcing to support the relationship, and she has been detached. There were two, duplicate, profiles for her on 13 June 2019: West-1333 and West-1603. The profile at West-1603 makes clear the lack of information about Alice's parentage. ~ Note by Michael Cayley, 13 June 2019

Shirley-478 and Shirley-46 are ready to merge now.
I have added an authoritative source, with text and footnotes to Shirley-46.
Please note that Anthony, John, William, Twifford and Thomas are NOT sons of Thomas West. and Cecily Shirley.
Also Note: Letitia and Martha are NOT daughters of Thomas West and Cecily Shirley.
Also, note that their descendants remained in England.
Douglas Richardson is considered to be an authority on the profiles he has published.
The wrongly connected profiles need to be disconnected (and their true families found, if possible). I looked up other Thomas profiles in this West family and none of them matched.
