Biography

Leah Short was born about 1844-1846 in Virginia, United States. Her parents were Charles Short and Annie Mullens.[1][2]

She was born about 1846 according to the 1850 US census;[1] about 1840 according to the 1880 US census;[3] Dec 1839 according to the 1900 US census;[4] or 16 Jun 1844 according to her death certificate.[2] The latter date is adopted here as the best estimate, as 1839 is not compatible with her age at the 1850 census (her parents were unlikely to mix up age 4 with age 11).

In the 1850 US census, Leah Short (4) was living in Russell, Virginia, with parents Charles Short (51) and Anna Short (40), and siblings James (14), Daniel (12), Jane (10), Booker (8), Wilson (6), Nancy (5) and Henry (1).[1]

She married Robert Christian. (Possibly second or third marriage.)

In 1880, Lean Christian (40) was living in Christie Creek, Rowan, Kentucky, with husband Robert Christian (40) and children John W (14), Thomas A (13), Henry A (11), William D (9), Cordelia F (7), Horace G (7), Oscar V (6), Mirandy V (3) and Lizzie May (1).[3]

In the 1900 US census, Leah Christian (60) was living in Hoggtown, Rowan, Kentucky, with husband Robert Christian (60) and daughter Annie (18) and grand-daughter Eva (7).[4]

Leah Christian died on 24 Oct 1917 in Rowan County, Kentucky, United States.[2]

Short-1323 and Short-1074 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same parents, born about same time in same place (different records give different dates, but all about 1839-1846), died same date and place, both married same husband.
