Mehitable Short was born in 1696 in Newbury, Massachusetts to Henry Short and Anne Sewall.

John married (Mrs) Mehitable Short 30 December 1714 in Newbury, Massachusetts. They were married by the Reverend Mr. Moses Hale. (As to questions about her maiden name since she was called Mrs Mehitable Short - she was mentioned in the 1706 will of her father Henry Short.)

John and Mehitable Emery's oldest child and first son was Moses Emery, born in October 1715.

"Mrs Emery, widow of John Emery, died 11 Mar 1773, aged 76 years."

Sawyer Hill Burying Ground. Her headstone says her death date was 11 June 1773.
