Biography

Samuel was born on 17 December 1857. The Shorts lived in Aurora, Maine until about 1866, when they moved to Elgin, Illinois to be near Hugh N. Short's brother Captain John Short./Aurora, Hancock, Maine. He was the son of Hugh N Short and Barbara Ann (Richardson) Short.[1]

In the 1860 census Samuel (age 2) was living in Aurora, Hancock, Maine.[1]

In the 1870 census Samuel (age 12) was living in Elgin, Kane, Illinois.[2]

In the 1880 census Samuel (age 22) was living in Fairview, Madison, Nebraska, United States. .[3]

When Samuel was 26 he married Christena Ebeling on 25 September 1884 in Parker, Turner, South Dakota, USA. The couple had one child: Hugh Augustus Short.[4]

On 1 June 1885 Samuel (age 27) was living in Parker, Turner, Dakota Territory, USA.[5]

Helped Build Seminary.

Samuel died at the age of 42 on 24 June 1900 in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, USA.[6]
