ELISHA FREEMAN WILL HARDIN COUNTY, KY
In the name of God Amen. TO WIT: That is to say my just debts being first paid and also my funeral expenses. I give and bequeath to my sons ELISHA FREEMAN, THOMAS FREEMAN and RICHARD FREEMAN and also my daughters SARAH CONTS and ELIZABETH SHORT each of them one dollar or their heirs having before given them their equal property on my estate as I must and intended and also give and bequeath to my son SAMUEL FREEMAN all the residue of my estate both real and personal for his sole use and benefit at my death and the said SAMUEL not being of proper mind to manage for himself. I deem it proper to have two of my friends appointed to take charge of him and his property. My will is that my son in law JACOB SHORT and JOHN BOHANNON enter in name a half section or two quarter sections of land as it may be most convenient and pay for the land out of my moneys for the use and benefit of my son SAMUEL FREEMAN and my will is also that the said JACOB SHORT and BOHANNON to settle, lease or rent the said land and use it as they may see proper with this condition that they support the said SAMUEL and keep him from want of clothing and nourishment in sickness or in health. And further the said SAMUEL is not to be compelled to labor except he should do it of choice and at the death of the said SAMUEL the said JACOB SHORT and JOHN BOHANNON is to be entitled to the land before mentioned for the use and benefit of them and their heirs forever. It is also my will that the court of the county or district where the said SHORT and BOHANNON lives appoint a trustee for the purpose of seeing to my son and see that he is well treated and taken good care of both in sickness and in health and in case the said SHORT and BOHANNON should not fully comply with this my last will then and in that case my will is that the trustee appointed by the court take possession of the land and sell, rent or lease the same to the best advantage and use the proceeds thereof to the support of my son SAMUEL FREEMAN as before mentioned. It is also my will that if there should be any money remaining after paying for the land and after my death that it go to the support of my son and this my will may be faithfully executed. I hereby appoint my trusty and faithful friends JACOB SHORT and JOHN BOHANNON the sole executors of this my last will and testament disallowing and revoking all other wills by me made or named satisfying and confirming this alone my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of the subscribing witnesses on the tenth day of April in the year of our Lord 1818.
