Henry was born ion August 9, 1841, in Cumberland, Allegany, Maryland, to Joseph Shriver and his wife, Henrietta Jane Causten Shriver.

Henry Shriver married Sarah Van Lear Perry on January 27, 1870, in Cumberland.

He passed away on November 13, 1898 in Cumberland.

1850 - United States Census - In the 1850 federal census, Joseph Shriver, 44, is living in Cumberland, Allegany, Maryland, and is working as a cashier in the banking and credit industry. Enumerated with him are his wife, Henrietta, 38, and children, Charles, 15; Robert, 13; Eliza, 11; Henry, 9; Mary, 5; Henrietta, 3; and Alice, 1. Also in the household are Rose Amelia, 17; Catharine Amelia, 19 and Catherine McCoskey, 18.[1]

1880 - United States Federal Census - In the 1880 federal census, Henry Shriver, 39, is living with his wife Sarah V., 34, in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, where he is a druggist. Living with them are their four sons, James C., 9, Vanlear P., 7, Henry, 5 and Robert 2.[2]
