From T. A. Wright's "Genealogy of the Shumway Family in the United States", 1909, page 161: "Dr Thomas Dike Shumway (7 Noah 6 Noah 5 Peter 4 Jeremiah 2 Peter 2 Peter 1) b. Oct 21 1838 at Pascoag, R.I., d. Nov. 4, 1907. m. Mary Anna Morton, July 29 1863 and resided in Plymouth, Mass. where she was b. Jan 19 1840. A newspaper clipping of 1892 gives an account of a testimonial banquet tendered by the Commercial Club of Plymouth to Dr TD Shumway in recognition of his work in the promotion of the building of the Plymouth & Middleborough Railroad, the speeches at which made complimentary references to his energy and untiring effort in pushing this public work. He became President of the Company controlling that line. The only child: 907 Lucia Morton b Oct 19 1864 m to Alonzo Lord in Nov 1895."[1]
