Biografi

Biography

Earl Sigurd the Mighty; the first Earl of Orkney [2]

Earl Sigurd and Thorstein the Red subdued Caithness and Sutherland [3]

Sigurd the Powerful is said to have died in 0895. The location of Sigurd's grave is still unknown, but some experts believe it is in Dornoch parish. He is supposedly buried in a mound on the bank of the River Oykell which flows into the sea through the Dornoch Firth and just at the mouth of the firth lies Cyderhall Farm which, in the 13th century, was known as Syvardhoch - or the 'howe (burial mound) of Sigurd'. Research Note

No sources mention wife or any daughters, just the one son Guttorm. Therefore the profiles of wife(s) and daughter has been disconnected. These profiles have been disconnected; Ireland-184 , Olafsdatter-25, Olafsdottir-66 and Sigurdsdatter-19. They can easily be reattached when someone has the time to work on the profile.

The Mighty-1 and Eysteinsson-115 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicates
Jarl-24 and Eysteinsson-188 appear to represent the same person because: Jarl is a title, please merge into Eysteinsson

Sigurd-3 and Jarl-24 are not ready to be merged because: Since the first earl of Orkney seems to be Sigur Eysteinsson both profiles should be merged into Eysteinsson-115 instead. Jarl is a title, not a LNAB.
