Having been one of the magistrates (ie a JP) of Westmorland,[8] Rev. Henry Sill appears to have got into debt and had to sell property in Westmorland in about 1827,[9] moving to Herefordshire at about that time. He also resigned his church positions in 1825 and 1826.[10]

He died suddenly, while dining with friends, on 24th June 1833 and was buried in Ashperton, Herefordshire.[8][11]

His eldest daughter was Elizabeth Sill,[12] who would marry Robert Brooke in Hereford in 1835.[13]

Research Notes

Date of death

Sources with no fact or date

There are additional sources with no facts or date. Often these are sources for the baptism or marriage of children that mention the parents or father. This section can just be removed if you will be adding those children and using these sources there.[14]

Issues to be checked

Generated by WikiTree AGC. This section should be removed when all issues have been looked at.

  • There is no source with source id 'S-1603504760'. GEDCOMPare typically does this when there is a source which is a record for a different person (such as the spouse). The ref is still added but is missing the source repository data.
  • A fact of type 'Residence' had no date but shared a ref with a 'Filing Date' fact with the date '26 March 1824'. So the fact with no date had its date set to that.
  • A fact of type 'Residence' had no date but shared a ref with a 'Baptism' fact with the date '2 February 1777'. So the fact with no date had its date set to that.

Additional issues to be checked:

  • These two alternate baptisms seem to be from a previous merge, but need an Ancestry account to access them:
Henry was baptised on 8 May 1806 in Burton in Kendal, Westmorland.[2]
Henry was baptised on 30 September 1807 in Burton in Kendal, Westmorland.[3]
  • Source for articled clerkship seems to be for Henry's brother:
Filing Date: 26 March 1824.[15]
On 26 March 1824 Henry was living in Burton In Kendal, Westmorland.[15]

Sill-399 and Sill-355 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse and daughter. Date of death for Sill-355 is incorrect (see comment on that profile).

Death date and place currently on this profile (1858, Redcar, Yorkshire) is for Henry Sill (abt.1777-1858), who was born in a different place at about the same time. (See also rejected matches).

ETA: Death now found in 1833, Herefordshire - see Henry Sill (abt.1776-1833) (proposed merge)
