Biography

Jacob Simons was born about 1784 in Monongalia County, Virginia [Now Barbour County, West Virginia]^[1] and died on July 17, 1853 in Barbour County, Virginia (now West Virginia).^[1] At the time of his death, he was married to Sarah Simon.^[1], ^[2]

The death record of Jacob's wife, Sarah, spells the surname "Simons", while the death record for Jacob uses "Simon".^{[1] [2]}

Jacob Simons married Sally Stump in 1803 in Hardy County, West Virginia. ^[3]

In 1784, Harrison County, Virginia was split from Monongalia County, Virginia and in 1787, Randolph County, Virginia was formed. Lewis County, Virginia was formed in 1816. Parts of Harrison County, Virginia, Lewis County, Virginia and Randolph County, Virginia were taken to form Barbour County, Virginia in 1843.
