This was written on husband Thomas Simmons Life Sketch and the contributing author's name is cut off by my phone so I am using quotations, stating that about half has been re-written as my original content [I have fixed some blatant grammatical errors, erroneous spellings and changed repetitive phrases or incomplete sentences] but believe it was placed on the wrong profile. If I can get the author I will add it or if someone else could do the same that would be great: "Anna MEADOR (Joel MEADOR, Jonas MEADOR, John Meadows IV , John Sr., Thomas "Orphan", Thomas Meades, Father) was born March 2, 1768 in Franklin County, VA and she died on October 16, 1823 in Smith County, TN. She was buried in Simmons Cemetery located in Macon County, TN. Anna was nearly 17 on February 3, 1785 when she married Thomas Simmons, son of Elizabeth and George Simmons in Bedford County, Virginia.

Thomas was born on April 2, 1767 in Linville Creek, Franklin County, VA and died Oct 10, 1843 in Macon County, TN. He was buried in Simmons Cemetery along with his first wife Anna.
After Anna died on October 5, 1829, Thomas deeded all his land to children in exchange for their promises to 'support him in his old age.' Family history along with court records show that sometime later Thomas sued his children in order to recover the previously deeded land. The judgement was for each child in the original deed had to pay him $20 annually for his the duration of his life

.

It is noted that the main farm (property) could not be recovered because it was deeded to his son Christopher [which I am unclear as to the significance].
As mentioned earlier Anna was Thomas' first wife, before the lawsuit (and most likely promoting it) as he remarried a woman referred to as "widow Sarah E Lucas". Between the marriage, lawsuit and what would be Thomas' will (deeding his land, animals and property soley to his step-son George Lucas) the family was greatly divided."

The following children were born to Anna Meador and Thomas Simmons:

1. Susannah - born in 1786 in Franklin County. VA and died after 1860. 2. Nathan - born on March 23 1791 in Franklin County, VA and died on October 6, 1822 in Macon County, TN. 3. Smith - born in 1786/1794 in Franklin County, VA and died in 1824 in Macon County, TN. 4. Christopher- born on July 9, 1794 and died September 20, 1860. 5. Lucy- born on March 3, 1797 in Franklin County, VA. 6. Frances- born on April 20, 1800 and died May 20, 1851. 7. Mary- born in 1804 in Franklin County, VA. 8. Levina- born about 1806 in Franklin County, VA and died in 1824/1829 in Tennessee. "
