James Nelson Simmons (1851 - 1929), (M) Dec 7, 1872, (S) Clara Joannae SMITH (1855 - 1938),[1]

James Nelson Simmons, son of Jackson Simmons was born July 28, 1851 and died June 6, 1929. Nelson went to live with his-brother Monroe after Monroe married and was livin g there when he, Nelson, married Clara Joannae Smith on December 7, 1872. Clara was the'daughter of Jeremiah (Jerry) Smith and'a sister to Monroe's firs t wife, Eliza Jane. Clara was born April 29, 1855 and died December 7, 1938. They lived in Franklinton, Louisiana[2]

Eugene of New Orleans, J.O. and C.C. of Franklinton, A.M. and L.J. of Bogalusa, R.E. and Loyd of Birmingham, Mesdames, S.L. Smith, W.A. Erwin, J.E. Strudivant, and Mrs. Frank E. Payne of Bogalusa, 1 brother, Monroe Simmons, 1 sister, Mrs. Ophelia Morris of Kentwood. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery.
