William Simmons was born around 1836. He married Anna Selina Tunnicliff in 1880 [1] He passed away in 1901 age 65[2]
We regret to have to record the death of Mr William Simmons, settler, of Kaituna, which occurred on Friday evening last. Mr Simmons had only just returned from Nelson, where he had been summoned to attend the Supreme Court as a witness in the case of Bain and Chamberlain against Christensen, and a cold he then contracted developed into more serious complications, which resulted in deat in a few days. Dr Fisher was called in too late to afford any assistance. Deceased was an old resident of Collingwood, having followed the occupation of a miner, principally at the Quartz Ranges, for a great many years, and was 65 years of age. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, and was largely attended. A widow and family of three are left to mourn their loss.[3]
