Biography

Moses Simmons was born around 1639, although there is currently no precise source for his date of birth nor place. He was the son of Moses Simmons and Sarah ?.

He married his wife Patience Barstow around 1662. Together they had the following children:

  1. Moses Simmons
  2. John Simmons
  3. Sarah Simmons
  4. Aaron Simmons
  5. Job Simmons
  6. Patience (Simmons) Barrows

Moses passed away before March 18, 1676.

His will was signed on 17 December 1676 and exhibited on 7 March 1676/77 in Plymouth court. He mentions his wife (but not by name), his sons, Moses, Aaron, John, and Job, and a daughter (but not by name). His widow Patience gave oath to the truth of his inventory on 5 March 1676.[1]

    • Page 9: Says he is the firstborn son of Moses Simmons and Sarah (unknown). Gives his wife's name (Patience Barstow), marriage date.
    • Page 11: Gives his death date as before March 18, 1676 because his wife was labeled as a widow at that point, that he lived in Hanover, that he married his wife Patience Barstow (dau. of William Barstow and Anne) around 1662, and the names of his children (Moses, John, Sarah, Aaron, Job, Patience), along with his will.
