Alfred B Simmons, well-known citizen of Elba, died on March 14 in a Troy hospital. He had resided here for many years and was a member of the Baptist church and a Mason. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rosa Ella Adams Simmons; two sons, Marvin L. Simmons of Enterprise and Sam Simmons of Elba; five daughters, Mrs. Susie Walton, Gantt; Mrs. George (Kitty) Wright, Atlanta, GA; Mrs. Ula Wise, Samson; Mrs. Gladys Parker, Elba; and Mrs. Lurline Bedsole, Greenville; two brothers, Tom and Ezra Simmons, Elba. Funeral Services were held on March 15 at the Elba Assembly of God Church with Rev. J.E. Plant and Don Dubose officiating. The Masonic ceremony was administered at the grave. Masons served as pallbearers. Internment was in Zoar cemetery. Hayes Funeral Home directing.
