This Solomon is the son of Willis Simmons Jr. who is the son of Willis Simmons and Jane Goslen Simmons of the Silver Creek (Pike Co. Ms) Simmons'."[1]

His mother was Matilda Bond . The Bond's moved to Mississippi with the Willis Simmons Sr. family circa 1810.

Solomon's father died in Louisiana before he was eight years and he, his mother and siblings are found in the home of his grandparents, Willis Simmons and Jane Goslen Simmons at Simmonsville, Pike County, MS. in the 1850 census.

He served in Army of the Confederate States of America, probably in Co. K, 39th, with his brothers. Family records only say, "Served with the Confederate Army."

After the Civil War Solomon Samuel moved to Kansas where he met and married Zilpha Jane Bell (not Anna Lee Bell as erroneously recorded in the "Silver Creek Simmons' ")"[2]

He and Zilpha married April 1st 1869 in Connor Station, Wyandotte County, Kansas. [3] Their first child, a boy, Frank, appears to be born in 1870 in KS. The next child Willis, b. 1871 in KS, then Grace in 1874, then Mary Alice in 1876, James in 1878, Leroy in 1879 and then Harry in 1880. Little Clara was born after their move to Paloma CA in 1885. Presently only Clara, James A. and Harry are the only children of Solomon and Zilpha Jane accounted for. They are buried in McComb MS.

Thanks to the research of Joe Sneed we find that that "Sol" and Zelpha purchased property in Union, Washington County, KS, April 25, 1877, December 12, 1876, and homesteaded in Concordia, Cloud, Kansas July 19, 1879.

WOW... thanks guys, for working on this part of the family. I have wondered which unit Solomon Simmons served in during the Civil War. The "best" evidence I have for his actual service is through Aunt Edna (Simmons) Campbell's book, The Silver Creek Simmons Family! Solomon had two other brothers that served during the Civil War, but I can't find actual proof of Solomon's time in. It's awesome to see other family members working on the family tree!
