Biography
'John Simmons' is found with Lafayette's family still in Indiana in 1870. It is believed that Lafayette left to establish home in Wright County Missouri in 1869. It is logical that John is his brother. It is also entirely possible that this is a mistake in census records, and that the name should have been recorded as 'Lafayette W' . Lafayette's birthdate is sometimes recorded as 1837, but in family Bible, and on his tombstone, is clearly 1832. Confusion between numerals 2 and 7.
