Biography

note from cousin: Fountain "Dunk" Simmons is enlisted with the 22nd Texas Infantry in March of 1862 and served to the end of the war (daily duty with pioneer corps in April of 1865). After the war, he returned to farming, but the hardships of service plagued his life. In his pension of 1906, he is described as "much broken." He eventually lived with his daughter Rachel and died in Harris County (TX).(The History of Hubbard's Regiment)
