Biography

James was born in Coffee, Alabama, USA in 1849, unknown father Simmons, mother Sarah. The census shows his father was born in Alabama, and his mother born in Georgia. He moved to Texas, and married Martha Jane Posey in Burleson, Texas in 1868, and was a farmer. By 1880, he and the family were in Gonzales Texas, then later in Lee County. He was buried in Adina Cemetery, Lee County Texas, in 1909.

He passed away before 1899. ^[1]
