Biography

William Simpson was born on 31 March 1721, in Baltimore, Maryland as the son of William Simpson and Elizabeth Preble.

He married Avarilla Perkins 18 August 1742 in St. George's Parish, Old Baltimore County, Province of Maryland.

They were the parents of Reuben Simpson (6 October 1743-about 1830), William Simpson1747 James Simpson (about 1750, Sarah Simpson 16 January 1749/50) - 1831), Rachel Simpson (about 1751-1817

William Simpson sells 72 acres to his Son Reuben Simpson

Reuben Simpson was the father of Avarilla (Simpson) Kilgore. He was born in about 1744. Records were found in Rowan County, NC. One deed dated November 4, 1765 from William Simpson grants 72 acres of land to Reuben Simpson. This land was on the West side of the Catawba River. In October 1768 Reuben and his wife Sarah deeded the land to Griffith Rutherford.

son of William Simpson and Avarilla Perkins. James's son Solomon Simpson married Sarah Boone daughter of George and brothers to Squire And Daniel Boone. Many Boone families in Rowan, NC migrated to Madison Shelby, Kentucky in 1780.

1787 James Simpson entered land on the middle fork of Bear Creek, Daniel, and Squire Boone were south of him on Bear Creek (Fred Hughes? map of Davie Co., NC)

1778 16 December William Simpson, 100 acres, Bolls Creek was joining Abraham Robinson Burke County Land Records Vol. I, So. Hist. Press, pg. 114, #1224 page 403 (Sarah Simpson married 24 September 1744 Baltimore Co., Maryland to Abraham Robinson.)

This is William Simpson b/ 1721 brother to Sarah who married Abraham in 1744


William bought the property in Rowan Co., NC, on 26 Aug 1762. William obtained a land grant, Rowan Co., NC Deed Book 5, pp. 47-48 from the Granville Proprietary Land Office, 221 acres on the west side of Catawba River adjoining Isaac Perkins and Adam Perkins. He sold this land to Griffith Rutherford on 23 Sept. 1767 (Rowan Co. Deed Bk 6, p. 574) .

In a deed from Henry Rutherford of Lincoln Co., NC to Charles Connor, the land was described as on the west side of Catawba River at Simpson's Ford, adjoining land owners were Isaac Robinson, Adam Perkins, Joshua Sherrill, and James Holsclaw (Lincoln Co. Deed Bk 18, p. 562). The deed also states that this land was in part a grant dated 1 Nov. 1784 to Griffith Rutherford and in part a grant dated 26 Aug. 1762 to William Simpson who sold it to Griffith Rutherford on 23 Sept. 1767. William also owned land on Ball's Creek on the west side of Catawba which was near the lands of John Robinson and Abraham Robinson.
