Biography

Leslie Roswell Simpson, son of Jerome Madison Simpson and Nancy Ann (Griffin) Simpson, was born on 13 Feb. 1873 at New York, USA.[1] He and his mother, appeared on the census of 12 June 1880 in the household of Lorenzo Crosby at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[2] He appeared on the census of 1892 in the household of his parents at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[3]

He married Edith Taft, daughter of Merrit M. Taft and Maria (--?--) Taft, in 1898. [4]

He was a traveling salesman when he and Edith appeared on the census of 9 June 1900 at Corning, Steuben County, New York.[4] He and Edith appeared on the census of 1 June 1905 at 141 13th St., Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York.[5] He was a saleman of art goods when he and Edith appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 at Olean, Cattaraugus Co., New York.[6] In 1918 he was an agent for the Cole Publishing Company, Cattaraugus County, New York.[1] He was a salesman of magazines in when he and Edith appeared on the census of 3 Jan. 1920 at 817 Crown St., Olean, Cattaraugus Co., New York.[7] He was a solicitor for food products when he and Edith Taft appeared on the census of 9 April 1930 at 1335 Plum St., Olean, Cattaraugus Co., New York.[8]

Leslei died on 5 June 1957 at Great Valley, Cattaraugus County, New York, at age 84 and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo, Steuben County, New York.[9][10] His memorial has the years of his birth and death.[11]
