Biography

Asa Eugene Simpson was born on 25 Aug. 1859[1] at New York, USA. He appeared on the census of 16 June 1860 in the household of his parents, Jerome Madison Simpson and Nancy Ann (Griffin) Simpson, at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[2] He appeared on the census of 30 Aug. 1870 in the household of his parents at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[3]

He married Luella Maria "Ella" Freeland, daughter of Abram Freeland and Anne B. (Spencer) Freeland, on 2 Oct. 1880 at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[4]

He was a carpenter wheh he and Ella appeared on the census of 26 June 1900 at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[5] He was a farmer when he and Ella appeared on the census of 27 Aug. 1910 at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[6] He was a farmer when he and Ella appeared on the census of 17 Jan. 1920 at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[7] He and Ella appeared on the census of 7 April 1930 at Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[8] He and Ella owned a home in St. Cloud, Florida, his granddaughter, Dorotha Simpson wrote that Asa was planning to go there to do repairs in late November 1931.[9]

Asa died on 10 April 1935 at age 75 and was buried at Jasper Cemetery, Jasper, Steuben County, New York.[1] His memorial has the dates of his birth and death and links to those of family members.[10]
