Biography
Mary Elizabeth "Betsey" Simpson was born 4 December 1778. [1] Her birthplace is listed by different researchers as South Carolina or North Carolina. Another suggested place of birth is Jamesville, Martin, North Carolina, see Research Notes.
"Mary Simpson" married Gabriel Sisk on 2 July 1801 [1] in Wilkes County, North Carolina. [2] [3] She was the mother of 7 known children:
- Singleton Sisk [4] [5]
- Elijah Sisk [4] [5]
- Gabriel Sisk II [4] [5]
- John S Sisk Sr. [4] [5]
- Daniel S Sisk [5]
- Bartlett S Sisk [5]

Sometime after 1801, Gabriel and Mary moved to Pendleton County, South Carolina where their seven children were born. [4] [5] By 1830, they were living in Habersham, Georgia. [6][7]
Betsey died 9 June 1844 in Habersham County, Georgia. [1]

"Mary Elizabeth Simpson", daughter of Louis S. and Frances E. Simpson, was born in Jamesville, Martin, North Carolina. [8] Note, the referenced record might be (most likely) for a different Mary Elizabeth Simpson. There is not a birth date listed on this record, however, the index title "North Carolina, Birth and Death Indexes, 1800-2000," seems to suggest that it would not include the birth of this Mary, since she was born about 1778. However, still need to review the original record.
