Lieutenant John Simpson served with Lancaster County Militia, Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.

John Simpson was born 10 Jan 1744 in Buckingham Township, Bucks, Pennsylvania and died in 3 Feb 1807 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. "He was second lieutenant Captain James Murray's company, Fourth Battalion under Colonel James Burd, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania militia, August 15, 1775, detailed to Continental service at Bristol, Pennsylvania, January 28, 1777. [1]

The following is extracted from paragraph 1.2.6.9.2.5: 1.2.6.9.2.5 -134 DENNIS CASSAT: (Cassatt.)

(David 124; Francis 103; David 8; Jacques 3; Jacques 1).

Lydia married Dennis Cassat. She was the daughter of John Simpson and Margaret Murray, and the granddaughter of General John Simpson who arrived in Pennsylvania 1664. Gen. John Simpson was an early Scotch-Irish settler near the Maryland line and Adams or Franklin County, Pa. This family was much intermarried with the early Scotch-Irish families who were among the first settlers of Central Pennsylvania, some of whom migrated from eastern portions of the State.

Lydia was the grandmother of the late Alexander J. Cassatt of Philadelphia the noted financier and President of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company.

CHILDREN:

1.2.6.9.2.5.1 182 i. Mary Cassat, married Joseph Gardner and had issue.

1.2.6.9.2.5.2 183 ii. Robert Simpson Cassatt, born July 24, 1806; died in 1891.
