Tommy started his career as a farmer, then in the early 1940s, the family moved off the farm into Tisdale where he worked as caretaker and icemaker at the curling and skating rinks in the winter, and as groundskeeper at the golf course in the summer months. He was also caretaker at Kipabiska Beach for a number of summers.
Documents for Tommy include registered copies of birth certificate that names Mrs. Kilburn as the midwife in attendance; genealogical death certificate showing no cause of death, but Tommy battled bladder cancer, undergoing chemotherapy in Saskatoon prior to his death; his service record in the CAF showing enlistment date of 15 May 1916, Prince Albert, SK, rank of retirement of Lance Sergeant, medals and decorations of British War Medal and Victory Medal, discharge date 31 January 1919, Winnipeg, MB. His description upon enlistment stated age of 20 years, 5 months, height was 5' 2-3/4", chest when fully expanded 37", complexion light, eyes blue, hair light, religious denomination Church of England. Assigned to He was wounded on 11.4.17 (April 11, 1917), injury appears G SH back, L/shoulder; rejoined unit May 1, 1917; was appointed L/Corportal August 28, 1917
