"Mr. and Mrs. Lee Simpson enjoyed the day Sunday when all their children gathered at their farm home here. They were dinner guests and included Mr. and Mrs. Ray McCleary and family of Peoria, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cardwell and son of Baxter Springs, Kas., Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bowser and son of Quapaw, Bennie, John, and Jake Simpson."[1]
Ben served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy in World War II. From the Miami Daily News Record (Miami Oklahoma), 20 August 1942:
"Two Wyandotte men, Clyde L. Bluejacket and Ben O. Simpson were enlisted in the Seabees construction regiment of the navy last week. Both Were enlisted as construction workers, which carries seaman, first class, rating."[2]
