Biography

Mary Ann Sims was the fourth child of Johnson L. Sims and Margaret "Peggy" Swain. She married John William Cullins in 1851 in SC (prob. Abbeville Co., SC) To this union were two sons born 1) John Swain & 2) William Sims Cullins both born in TN.

Mary Ann Sims Cullins died during or shortly after the long migration from South Carolina to Arkansas. There are different stories. One is that her infant son was placed in a basket of wool tied to the oxbow of the covered wagon. The young widower returned to South Carolina and married another Mary Ann, then returned to Arkansas with her. ^[2]
