Funeral rightes for the longtime Champaign county resident will be at 1:45pm Sunday at the home in Gifford and 2pm at St Paul's Lutheran church , Gifford. Reverend W. J. Ferne will officiate, and burial will be in Kopmann cemetery. The body was taken to the Freese funeral home, St. Joseph, and will be taken to the home Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Harms was born Nov 7, 1871, in Germany, daughter of Dirks and Sadie Frerichs Weerts. Her mother and father died when she was about 11, and Mrs Harms came to this country in 1891. She lived in Champaign county from that time to her death, with th eexception of about seven yeras near Buckley. She married John Bartell in March 1894. There were five children from this union: three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Sims, Wanatah, Ind.; Mrs. Anna Steinmann, Dowagiac, Mich.; Mrs. Alma Roelfs, St. Joseph; a son, Barney Bartell, South Bend, Ind., and a daughter preceded her in death in 1915. In addition, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren survive. Mr. Bartell died in 1912. In 1920, she married Dick Harms, who succumbed in 1931. A sister, Mrs. Cornelius Klaassen of Pomeroy, IA survives. Two sisters and a brother preceeded her in death.
