I was told by family Frank died in 1949 but I have been unable to find his death index, so it may have been another year but the day he died was 4 July.

Frank was the eldest son of the family and after the death of his mother was regarded the head of the family by them all. A role for which his nature well suited him. He was thoughtful, even tempered with a calm disposition and a generous nature.

After qualifying as an engineer following an apprenticeship with Arters in Barham

He procured a post with the prison service. This necessitated him moving about the country for different spells of duty. One of his first appointments was to Winchester other included Kendal, Wales, Hull and Liverpool.

He married Jane Longley who was known in the family as Jenny. I do not remember ever meeting her but seem to remember my mother saying that she came from a large family who lived and worked on the Duke of Norfolk's estate at Arundel in Sussex. My mother described Jenny as being very bright and vivacious, could be the life and soul of the party, but having a volatile temper. They had one daughter, Olive. Olive told me that her mother was very strict in her upbringing and even as a young teacher she was not allowed to meet up with her friends or even go to the shops on Saturday mornings but instead to get her set chores finished which were to clean the knives (no stainless steel in those days) and do her own laundering. ( no washing machines)

Jenny died in 1917 and some time later Frank married again, his second wife was called Edith. Frank and his daughter Olive were very close, Olive said he accompanied her to the shop when she bought her Wedding dress. Frank died in 1949
