Louis Singer was born in France, February 9, 1840, and was but three years of age when brought to this country by his parents so that he is practically, in everything except the actual fact of birth, an American.He married Elizabeth Yeagle, who was born in Pittsburgh about 1841, and they had thirteen children, of whom there are now living: Lena, married John McKernan, and lives at McKees Rocks ; Mary, married Michael Beck, and lives in McKees Rocks ; Cecelia, married William Rosenberg, and lives in Library, Pennsylvania ; William L., is in the ice business at McKees Rocks ; Joseph Andrew, of further mention ; Andrew A., also in the ice business at McKees Rocks.

Louis Senger, ice-dealer, postoffice Chartiers, a son of Christian (a farmer) and Catherine Senger, was born in Alsace, France (now Germany), in 1840, and came to this country in 1844, settling in this county.He married, April 9, 1861, Elizabeth, daughter of John and Mary A. Jackel, and they had following-named children: Catherine (deceased); Magdalena, wife of John E. Mc- Kernan; Mary A., wife of Michael J. Beck; Philomena (deceased), Louis (deceased), Sophia E. , William L., Joseph A., Andrew A., George C, Cecelia C. and one that died in infancy.
