Biography

Mary Sisson, daughter of James and Lydia (Hathaway) Sisson was born 26 Feb 1685 at Dartmouth, Massachusetts.[1][2]

She was named in her father's will, dated 15 June 1734 and attested 17 Dec 1734, as Mary Sisson along with her sibilings.[3][4] Her married sisters are referred to by their married surnames, so it appears that Mary was unmarried in 1734, aged about 49 years.

Research Notes

Arnold contains the marriage of a John Pearce "of Tiverton" and "Mary Sisson of Dartmouth" with the intention recorded 13 Jan 1726/27 and the marriage on 14 Feb 1626/27.[5] There is no indication this is a second marriage and she would have been 42 years of age.

The John Pearce sometimes seen as married to this Mary Sisson is given a birth date of 11 Jan 1687. That particular John Peirce is spelt John Peirce in the birth records, born Kent County the son of Giles and Elizabeth Peirce. (Arnold I:138)
