Biography

I was born in Port Arthur,Texas on July 26, 1932. I grew up in the Historic Heights District of Houston, Texas. After graduating from Reagan High School, I attended the UH and at the same time worked for Gregory-Giezendanner Advertising Agency as Assistant Comptroller. In 1958, I was hired as Assistant Production Manager with McCann Erickson Advertisng Agency. At that time, McCann Erickson was the second largest Ad Agency in the US, second to J. Walter Thompson. I married my second husband, Joe Lacy, on July 3, 1962. Later that year, we moved to Shreveport, Louisiana and I was hired by Glenn Mason & Associates Advertising as their Production Manager.

Joe was in Retail as an efficiency expert and was subject to being transferred to stores that were not showing a profit. He was transferred to Ft. Worth, Texas and then Dallas, Texas. In Dallas, he became a road salesman (Mfg. Rep.) with Victor B. Handal & Sons out of New York. Since we could live anywhere in his territory, we moved to Jacksonville, Texas and then to Lake Charles, Louisiana. We stayed in Lake Charles for 16 years. During that time, I was a planner with IMCAL, a government agency having planning jurisdiction over 5 parishes. I specialized in the development of subdivisions, comprehensive zoning, grants research, cataloging historic homes and tourism. In 1978, I left IMCAL to become an oil lease broker. I remained in the oil and gas field until I retired in 1997.

My love of geneology is due to my parents. From an early age, my parents took me to courthouses and cemeterys with them. It became a game to try and locate the headstone with the name on it that my parents would print on a piece of paper. My parents left little research for me to do on my Sitton and Wells lines. I started working on my husband's Lacy and Payne lines the year we got married. Currently I am working on photographing family headstones which will then be placed on Wikitree.

Thank You cousin Mary for all you have already done. I'm just beginning at this, so i am grateful I have found someone so reliable to help me. It may take a while but we may just be able to put our family's puzzle back together. I truly look forward to it.
