Dorothy was born in October 1738 in Colchester, Connecticut Colony to Joseph Skinner and Elizabeth Skinner.[1]She was a twin to Elizabeth Skinner.[2]

She married Polycarpus Smith January 4, 1758 in Colchester. [3]
