George was born in 1860 at Perth. He is the son of Harry Skinner and Isabella Clezy. (The mother's surname was sometimes misread as "Clegg" due to someone's bad handwriting; it was really "Clezy".)
Records are poor - positive identification is uncertain. The following records MIGHT be this person:
- 1881 UK census at Portsea, Hamphshire, England, said George Skinner, born 1860 in Scotland, was a gunner in the Royal Marine Artillery.
- 1881 register of deaths and burials said George Skinner, born about 1859, died at sea, as a member of the merchant marine.
- 1901 UK census at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, said George Skinner, born 1860 in Scotland, was a seaman, married with one child
- 1912 US immigration record showed George Skinner, born 1860 in Scotland, entered the United States on the ship "Hesperian" (but indentification is doubtful as it says he was born in Broughty Ferry, near Dundee).
What became of George Skinner, born 1860 at Perth? Who knows...?
