Born in Ravenswood, West Virginia to the late William and Hattie Boyce Skinner, John Harrison Skinner, of 948 Mercer Avenue, died on Nov. 17, 1980 following an extended illness. He was 90 years old.
An Akron resident for 65 years, he was a member of Coventry Lodge No. 665 F & AM, Valley of Akron Consistory, Tadmor Shrine, Akron Turner Club and the Sons of Herman. He was a self-employed plastering contractor since 1916 in Akron.
He married the former Nora E. Daugherty in Beaver, Pennsylvania on June 15, 1914. She preceded him in death in February of this year. He is survived by four sons, Brady A. Skinner, Harry Noal Skinner, James H. Skinner and Robert E. Skinner; and a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Basil (Estelle Mae) Witwer; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Augusta Cox and Mrs. Edith Thorne, both of Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park following service in Billows Chapel in Fairlawn.
