Thomas James Skinner was born in Essex, England about 1813 to Ambrose William Skinner and (Unknown).
Thomas married Mary Lowdham Goode in East Farleigh, Kent, England on 19 Aug 1841.[1]
In 1851, their family were enumerated in the England and Wales census, residing in West Thorock, Essex, where Thomas was occupied as a farmer.[2]
They emigrated to Vancouver Island, travelling aboard the Norman Morison and arriving at Fort Victoria on 16 Jan 1853.[3]
After remaining in Victoria for several years, the family relocated to Cowichan. In 1873, Thomas was the first warden of the North Cowichan Municipal Council.
In 1881, their family were enumerated in the 1881 Canada census, residing in Cowichan, where Thomas was occupied as a farmer.[4]
He passed away in Maple Bay, British Columbia on 1 Jun 1889.[5]
Thomas is buried at St Peter's Anglican Cemetery in Duncan, British Columbia.[6]
