Biography

Furnifold was the son of Benjamin Slade and Ann Lott Slade. He was born in about 1765 in Hyde County, North Carolina.

On October 2, 1756 his parents and siblings were living on the east side of the Machapongo River, beginning near the River Swamp, in Hyde County, North Carolina. It was at the "beginning head line at [the] end of [the] marked tries, to river swamp, to corner mulberry to first marked black gum".

In June 1772 he inherited from his father, Benjamin, who had passed away about June 1772.

In 1790 Furnifold was living alone in Hyde County. He lived next door to his nephew Benjamin. At this time, Furnifold was 40 years old.

In 1800 he lived in the same place, in Hyde County, North Carolina. His nephew lived with him. He was listed as 45 and up, and his nephew was listed as 26-45.

In 1810 he was still in Hyde County, NC. He had not married as far as I know.

In January - February 9, 1813, Furnifold passed away. He had passed away by February 9, 1813, in Hyde County, North Carolina. He was 63 years old,

In his Will he left his nephew William his land and tenements. He left his nephew Benjamin 4 cows and calves, he left Prudence Jewell a feather bed, his mare, and all of his notes and accounts. The remainder of his estate he split between Prudence Jewell and his sister Lydia Slade. Wm Slade was the Executor, who was Stephen's son. Also, Prudence Jewell was an Executrix. Witnesses were Hector Scot and Juaneas Bell, Jr.
